Event Calendar Submission Criteria
VisitBN Event Calendar Policy
The Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (VisitBN) maintains an event calendar to promote activities that enhance community engagement, attract visitors, and highlight the vibrancy of the Bloomington-Normal area.
Criteria for Inclusion
From major, public events to hands-on classes and workshops, our calendar is the place to help residents and visitors engage with all the special things happening throughout McLean County. Events considered for inclusion must generally fall into one of the following categories: Arts & Culture, Family Friendly, Festivals, Live Music, Shopping & Markets, Sports, Route 66.
Exclusion Criteria
Events will not be included on the calendar if they are:
- Conducted solely online (virtual or Zoom-based events).
- Held at a private residential address.
- Fundraisers for specific individuals or interest groups.
- Private or otherwise not open to the general public.
- Membership required.
Submission Guidelines
- How to submit: Event organizers may submit event details through the VisitBN website submission form.
- Required information: Submissions must include event name, date, time, location, brief description, and ticketing or registration details (if applicable). Images or logos may be submitted if the organizer holds rights to use them.
- Editing rights: VisitBN reserves the right to edit event descriptions for clarity, style, and length without altering essential. Duplicate or recurring events may be consolidated at VisitBN’s discretion.
Review and Compliance
Each submission will be reviewed to ensure alignment with inclusion criteria. Event organizers are responsible for ensuring that their events comply with all local laws and regulations. VisitBN assumes no liability for events listed on the calendar.
Discretion
Submission of an event does not guarantee inclusion. VisitBN retains full discretion to determine eligibility, edit content, or remove events as necessary.
