Cantus Novus, Bloomington-Normal’s premier chamber chorale, directed by Matt Davis and accompanied by Tiffany Smith, is primed to offer its Spring ’24 program, “Notes On the Human Condition” at 3 p.m. on April 28, 2024. As usual, Cantus Novus presents unique works by established, unknown, and local composers. We will, of course, collaborate with the best guest musicians in Central Illinois. The Spring ’24 concert includes works by Francis Poulenc, Gounod, Randall Thompson, and the inimitable Elaine Hagenberg. We will perform a short work by Sean Guess-Hanson, a chorale member, and a Harry Styles arrangement by Mark Gizzard, professor of Music and Choir at Illinois State University. Guest musicians includes Kahauri Givens-Brown, Elli Ji, Dr. Rex Moore, and others.
