Nomad Theatre Presents: Pop-Up HERstory
have left an indelible mark on history, sharing their stories through original monologues and scenes written by local writers.
This year’s featured historical figures include:
● Coco Chanel (fashion icon and businesswoman)
● Ella Fitzgerald (jazz legend and civil rights advocate)
● Judy Garland (beloved actress and singer)
● Kim Phuc Phan Thi (Vietnam War survivor and peace activist)
● Margaret Sanger (birth control activist and founder of Planned Parenthood)
● Nellie Bly (pioneering investigative journalist)
● Sojourner Truth (abolitionist and women’s rights activist)
● Anne Sullivan (renowned teacher of Helen Keller)
● Elsie de Wolfe (interior designer and socialite)
Their inspiring journeys will be performed amidst the book stacks of the Bloomington Public Library.

Audience members are invited to explore the library at their own pace, with featured monologues happening every 15 minutes. The full experience takes approximately 90 minutes, but guests are welcome to stay for as many stories as they’d like. Maps and programs outlining the event will be available on site.
This event is free and open to all ages. As a female-founded nonprofit, Nomad Theatre Company welcomes donations to support its continued growth—details on how to contribute will be available at the event.
