McLean, IL – CORE of McLean, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is excited to announce the 11th Annual Get Your 6.6 on Route 66, to be held August 24th! Register by July 15th for a $5 discount!

This annual 6.6k (4.1-mile) run/walk is organized by local volunteers to raise funds for the community of McLean, with the goal of making the village an even more attractive place to visit, live, and start a business. Past run/walk events have helped raise money for Village welcome signs, mural art, and ongoing efforts to restore, beautify, and celebrate our historic water tower. Plans are in the works for a community garden, more signage for the park and other Village attractions, and a Welcome Wagon program for new residents.

Run or Walk, Then Stay for the Fun!
The race starts at 8 am on Saturday, August 24, 2024, on Route 66 at Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup and finishes at the Water Tower Park in McLean. Runners and walkers alike love this race because they get to take a shot of maple sirup before traveling the Mother Road on foot, and the smooth, fast 6.6-km distance is certified by USA Track & Field. A block away from the finish, participants and the general public are invited to gather at the McLean Village Square for our post-race party! We’re excited to welcome back the Dixie Restaurant, serving classic diner brunch food, and Chubby’s Bar and Grill, who will be providing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. All race participants will receive vouchers for food and a drink in addition to other items in their swag bag. Hink’s Smokehouse will also be on-site with food for purchase, and McLean’s new coffee shop, Velveteen Coffee Co. will have coffee, tea, and fizzy drinks for sale.

Also on the Village Square will be music, lemon-shake-ups, a classic car show, lawn games, a silent auction benefiting Ruby’s Rescue & Retreat of McLean, face painting, the opportunity to play arcade games at Arcadia and Pinball Paradise, local history and a craft at the Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Library, and more! Ruby’s will also have adoptable dogs eager to meet new friends—and possibly their new forever family—until noon! Most other activities on the square will last until 1 pm.
