Discovering Downtown Bloomington: A Perfect Day of Adventure
Downtown Bloomington is a treasure of unique experiences, blending art, history, shopping, and amazing food. The city recently put together a fantastic itinerary for exploring it’s amazing downtown, and as CVB, we had to see what the buzz was all about. Here’s how our day unfolded:
Afternoon Shopping Spree
We began our adventure around noon, diving into the charming boutiques and antique shops that make downtown Bloomington so special.
- The Painted Wraith Curiosity Shoppe offered an enchanting mix of vintage oddities and unique finds that spark the imagination.
- Neighbor Thrift charmed us with its eclectic mix of thrifted treasures, perfect for those who love to hunt for hidden gems.
- Antiques and Unique’s lived up to its name with a curated selection of timeless pieces.
- Crossroads Fair Trade Goods & Gifts educated us with their fair-trade items supporting impoverished artisans and farmers around the world.
Each shop had its own personality, making the shopping experience a delightful journey in itself.
A Delicious Lunch at Reality Bites
All that exploring worked up quite the appetite, so we stopped at Reality Bites for a memorable lunch.
The highlight? Their mac and cheese eggrolls—crispy, cheesy perfection! We also savored their gourmet salads, which were as flavorful as they were fresh. Reality Bites is the kind of place where every bite lives up to the name.
Art at the McLean County Arts Center
With full bellies and happy hearts, we headed to the McLean County Arts Center, where we were immersed in Bloomington’s vibrant art scene.
The gallery showcased an array of stunning local art that left us inspired and in awe of the talent this community fosters. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply curious, this is a must-visit spot for creativity lovers.
Behind the Scenes at the Blommington Center for the Preforming Arts
Our day ended with a private behind-the-scenes tour at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.
We learned about the history of this iconic venue and explored the backstage area, where so much magic happens. From the beautifully restored architecture to the stories shared by staff, this tour gave us a whole new appreciation for the arts in Bloomington.
