History Rocks!

Did you know??

Take a look at this photo of the 1868 McLean County Courthouse, where horse-drawn freight wagons line Main Street. Designed by Alfred Piquenard and built for $420,000, this courthouse stood tall until the Great Fire of 1900 led to its demolition.

Fast forward to 2024! The site is now home to the McLean County Museum of History in Downtown Bloomington, IL. This community hub hosts engaging events, lectures, and outreach activities, while preserving the rich history of McLean County. With both permanent and rotating exhibits, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, collaborating with local historians to keep the stories alive.
